Complete Umrah Guide Step by Step
From wearing Ihram to completing Sa'i - every step explained in plain language. In Urdu and English.
Ihram — entering the sacred state
احرام
Wear the Ihram garments before crossing the Meeqat. Two unstitched white sheets for men. Women wear modest clothing. Make the intention (Niyyah) and recite Talbiyah. Avoid cutting hair, nails, perfume, and relations until Umrah is complete.

لبیک اللھم لبیک، لبیک لا شریک لک لبیک
Tawaf — seven circles of the Kaaba
طواف
Upon entering Masjid al-Haram, proceed to the Kaaba. Start from the Black Stone (Hajr al-Aswad). Walk seven circles counter-clockwise around the Kaaba. Keep Kaaba on your left. Recite duas and Talbiyah during Tawaf.

Two Rakat Salah behind Maqam Ibrahim
مقام ابراہیم کے پیچھے نماز
After completing seven circles, offer two Rakat Salah behind Maqam Ibrahim if possible, or anywhere in the Masjid. Recite Surah Al-Kafirun in first rakat and Surah Al-Ikhlas in second rakat.
Drinking Zamzam water
آب زمزم
Drink Zamzam water while facing the Kaaba. Make dua. Zamzam stations are available throughout Masjid al-Haram. You can also take Zamzam bottles home.

اللھم إنی أسألک علما نافعا ورزقا واسعا
Sa'i — seven walks between Safa and Marwa
صفا اور مروہ کے درمیان سعی
Walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa. Start at Safa, end at Marwa. Walking from Safa to Marwa is one round, back is second. Men jog between the green lights. Recite Talbiyah and duas throughout.

إن الصفا والمروة من شعائر الله
Halq or Taqsir — cutting hair
حلق یا تقصیر
Men either shave the entire head (Halq — more reward) or shorten hair equally from all sides (Taqsir). Women cut a finger-length from the ends. This completes your Umrah. You are now free from Ihram restrictions.

8 Common Mistakes to Avoid
Especially for first-time pilgrims
❌ Wearing perfume or cologne in Ihram
✓ Fix: Switch to unscented products before Meeqat. Even scented soap breaks Ihram rules.
❌ Not knowing the Meeqat for your flight
✓ Fix: If flying via Jeddah (JED), the Meeqat is on the plane. Wear Ihram before boarding or at the airport.
❌ Wearing stitched clothing (men)
✓ Fix: Men must wear two unstitched white sheets only. No underwear, no socks with shoes in Ihram.
❌ Starting Tawaf from the wrong point
✓ Fix: Always start from the Black Stone (Hajr al-Aswad) corner. A green light marks the starting line.
❌ Doing Sa'i before Tawaf
✓ Fix: Tawaf always comes first. Sa'i (Safa-Marwa) is performed after Tawaf.
❌ Not drinking Zamzam water before leaving Masjid al-Haram
✓ Fix: Drink facing the Kaaba, make dua. You can also fill bottles — allowed at Zamzam stations.
❌ Skipping the 2 Rakat after Tawaf
✓ Fix: Offer 2 Rakat behind Maqam Ibrahim after completing 7 circles — this is Wajib.
❌ Cutting only a few hairs (Taqsir done wrongly)
✓ Fix: Taqsir means cutting equally from all around the head — not just a few strands.
